Data Sheets

Data Sheets provide a grid or sheet sheet view of database information. In previous versions of SmartWare this was called browse mode.  With data sheets, the columns are adjustable with drop and drag methods. Data Sheets can act as a point of data entry.  Data Sheets are sometimes preferred by the end user.  Column width and height are adjustable.

Sorting with a Data Sheet

The Data Sheet has a number of features which are accessed with a left mouse click on a column.  The database can be sorted with the selected column acting as the key field.  Sorting can be done in three ways:

Ascending

Descending

Physical Order

Querying with the Data Sheet

The second feature accessed with a left mouse click is the ability to perform a query. The query feature allows the following queries:

Equal

Greater Than

Greater Than or =

Less Than

Less Than or =

The value used is the value of the cell that is currently highlighted. The query is performed immediately.

Relationship to a View

A Data Sheets is a way in which to load a view.  A Data Sheet is not a view file of and by itself.  Therefore there is no file extension.  The data sheet uses the standard view.

Modifying the Data Sheet

As the Data Sheet is a way to view a Standard View, the data sheet is not modified directly.  Modifications to the Standard View are reflected in the Data Sheet.
